Competitions

General Classification (GC), Yellow Jersey

Individual overall leader with the lowest combined time includig the team TT

We will be using timing chips for individual times. The chip is in the seat post number so easy to use.

All open stages will be timed with the individuals time going to GC. If you finish with a bunch or within 2 seconds of a bunch you will be given bunch time.

No sprinting required as no bonus times given for places and bunches all get the same time. Safety first!

Please Note: No TT bikes or areo bars allowed. We have chosen one rule for all, standard road bike set up only.

King of the Mountains – KOM

Individual points competition

Category & points for each climb to the first 8 places

  • Cat 2 – 16, 14, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2
  • Cat 3 – 18, 16, 14, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4
  • Cat 4 – 20, 18, 16, 14, 12, 10, 8, 6
  • Cat 5 – 32, 28, 24, 20, 16, 12, 8, 4

  • Weka Pass – Cat 2
  • Lewis Pass – Cat 3
  • Rahu Saddle – Cat 4
  • Arthurs Pass – Cat 5
  • Craigie Burn Cutting – Cat 4
  • Porters Pass – Cat 3

Sprint Competition

Individual points competition

There are no sprint points available at the stage finishes. Stage finishes are GC time only, same bunch time for all riders who finish in a bunch with in the 2 seconds

Just to repeat, NO sprint or time bonuses will be allocated at the end of the stages

Points are 6, 4, 2 to the first three places in each sprint.

Sprints will be located in the open stages

  • Day 1 – Ashley school- Amberley – Balmoral Sprint
  • Day 2 – 1st Engineers camp 47k , 2nd Ikamatua 178k
  • Day 3 – 1st Aratika 29k, 2nd Rotamanu 46k
  • Day 4 – 1st Cass sprint 26k,
  • Total of 7 Sprints. top 3 . points 6, 4, 2,

Teams

Teams will be made up of 3 to 5 people. The team competition is based on the combined times from GC of the3 fastest members of each stage and is the total accumulative team time for the tour.

The four team members can be from any grade.

If you enter as an individual only and do not have a team you will be put into a team. The reason for this is we have a four team time trails in the tour. The TTT time will be added to the individuals overall time for GC.

Combined individual times for top 3 team members in each stage. Team Jerseys will be presented to the winning teams at the final Awards Dinner on the Monday night.

Grades

Grades are A,B,C,D and Masters 50yrs plus

Competitions for each Grade

Results for GC, KOM, and Sprint will be produced individually for each Grade A, B, C, D & 50ys plus

Leader’s jerseys will be presented to the leaders from each grade, each day. This year all winners for each day will get to keep their Jerseys.

Note: 5 Passes rule : Please note 2016 there will be no roll downs

Scotty Brown Star Rider of the day jerseys will be presented to the selected winner (chosen by the bunch) from each grade, each day!.
